Went to the Nuremberg zoo with my parents and my brother.
When I saw that they had a maned wolf I was immediately like "Weee!!! Gotta take some photos for ~dodger-chan !" since she likes those wolves very much. ^____^

So, they're not closely related to other living canines. Where in the world do they originate from? I doubt they're anywhere in the Americas.

Kalaks aka Maned Wolf are an endangered species of canid and there is about 1500 maned wolves left in the wild , they have their own specie name "Chrysocyon brachyurus" and are neither fox or wolf.

-sorry for randomly butting into this conversation Kalaks so happen to be my favorite canid ^^; -
