Alright, ever since "Rise of the Guardians" was released everyone whined that it was such a huge failure and hadn't even earned it's production costs of $145 Mio back and Dreamworks had to fire people, etc. I believed it because so many people and websites confirmed it. It will be shown on German television soon and I read in a TV-magazine that it earned double its production costs and was mildly confused, wishing it was true. So I just checked Boxofficemojo and saw that, yes, it only made $101 Mio in the USA but over $300 Mio worldwide. What the HELL was everyone complaining about so much??? Okay, it earned way less than it deserved and everyone had hoped but Dreamworks got a profit of more than $150 Mio, that's not what I call a huge financial fail that leads to firings so bills can be paid.

A friend with connections to American animators told me she talked to them about it and they said until now Hollywood only paid attention to domestic box office and didn't care about worldwide results. Sorry, Murica, but how retarded is THAT? If no one gave a damn about international box office, why didn't they just release it for free everywhere outside the US? It's the TOTAL amount that counts in the end, what would have been better, earning $250 Mio in the USA and nothing everywhere else? This is just....sorry for the random rant but this is just so facepalm-worthy and unfair towards this beautiful movie. :|

Btw, "Tangled" costed $260 Mio and earned around $590 Mio, so percentage wise just a little bit more than RotG, but was celebrated as huge success and the rebirth of Disney animation. While they shut down 2D-animation departments after "Princess and the Frog" wasn't as successful as they hoped...though, again percentual wise and considering the production costs, it made more profit than "Tangled".

Hollywood, I don't understand you.

Hmm,
I love this comment! I just finished reading her journal which was asked to be read before asking any questions, and what's one of the first rules that even has a stamp?! *Clears throat* "***ART-TRADES / REQUESTS*** : NO ( so please stop asking me! )"

Heh, just thought I might...point that out for you.....Yeah.....

I'm never taking requests because being an artist is my job and I need to pay my bills.
